Today we went cave tubing and zip lining. We had a 45 minute hike to get to the start of the tubing, and our guide Jackie pointed out many interesting facts about the jungle of Belize. At one point, Jackie went over to a tree stump and stuck her hand into a termite nest, and brought out a handful of the critters. She said we are free to sample them – that they are full of protein and minty tasting. They were surprisingly good! Very small, so you would have to eat a lot to survive, but now we know at least one thing we could eat if were were ever lost in the jungles of Belize.
